Following general guidelines may be helpful
- NSR is a secure site and uses https transmission so you may get a system message to this effect, accept that.
- Complete your NSR registration session within 15 minutes of starting else the session may expire.
- Use Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0.
- Best screen resolution would be 1024 by 768 pixels
- In case you have tried multiple times clear the system cache by opening Internet Explorer and selecting Menu option Tools >> Internet Options and than selecting Delete cookies and delete files.
- Enable Active X controls on your Internet browser. In case of Internet Explorer this can be done by selecting Menu option Tools >> Internet Options and than selecting Security tab >> Custom level. Scroll down do find the option "Run Active X controls and plug-ins" and check the radio-button for "Enable".
- Check that pop-up blocker is not active. To select your employer company name and to fill value for any university/college not listed on NSR a pop-up window is provided.
- Check your internet connection. The site could be slow on slow connections such as mobile dial-up, cable dial-up connections.
- Note your acknowledgement number, login ID and passwords.

NSR has provided the option of indicating the name of the company which has asked you to register and also the reference number such as employee ID, Offer ID, letter reference number with such company. Filling this information correctly helps such company to take note of your NSR registration details and access your profile for its reference / background check etc.
In case you have been asked by a prospective employer company to register, select the option of "Another Company". Select the name of such company from the list of companies, if the company is not available in the list you may select the option "Other". You may indicate your Job ID or Offer ID or letter reference in the offer ID field.
NSR system provides you with a facility where based on "Acknowledgement Number" issued by NSR system and Log-in password set-up by you, you can access your incomplete profile and complete the profile. This can be done in multiple sessions as well.
Acknowledgement Number is also sent by email to you for your reference. If you have forgotten your Log-in password (set-up by you) and/or do not have your Acknowledgement Number, you cannot access your incomplete profile. This precaution is being taken to prevent unauthorized access to your profile on NSR. Regret ! You need to enter the details again, don't forget to remember the Acknowledgement Number, Log-in ID, Login / Transaction Password and answer to hint question this time.

Yes, even after generation of your ITPIN you can access your profile on NSR and add such details. To complete your NSR registration you need to fill-up atleast the mandatory fields (marked with asterisk *).
You need to access your profile on NSR using your ITPIN, Log-in ID and Log-in Password. Select the feature "Correct errors in data entry". The system will ask you to enter the Transaction password (set-up by you during registration) for modification in your profile data. Please note any part of your profile for which background check has been done cannot be edited. Your name and date of birth cannot be edited, if mistake has been made while entering these fields it is suggested that you may enter your details again and generate a fresh Acknowledgement number.
You can access your profile by using "Complete your Registration" option on NSR website and entering your "Acknowledgement Number" issued by NSR system and Log-in password set-up by you. You can view the details entered by you and take a print-out of the acknowledgement form.
You can access your profile by using "Complete your Registration" option on NSR website and entering your "Acknowledgement Number" issued by NSR system and Log-in password set-up by you. You can generate your NSR Acknowledgement Form. The payment mode is mentioned on the form.
If the site is prompting you to select the payment mode or if form is generated but "Online payment" is not mentioned on the form, the payment status needs to be checked. Please write a mail to nsr@nsdl.co.in mentioning your Acknowledgement No. and proceed as per advice.
In case your present employer company is not available in the list please write to nsr@nsdl.co.in with the details of such company name and website, if any. We will update the list and inform you
In case a past employer company does not appear in the list you can add such company name yourself. When you search for any company name, the last entry in the search result is "Not in the List". So if you do not find your past employer company name in the search result, you may click on this entry i.e. "Not in the List" and system will allow you to enter the company name as text in the field for company name.
Email on ITPIN generation
NSR system will send to you an email on the email ID registered by you while creating your profile. Please make sure that you have entered correct email ID and of course, do check your mailbox.
Check yourself on NSR site
You can check the status of your ITPIN generation after submission of finger-prints on NSR site. This can be done using "Complete your Registration" option on NSR website and entering your "Acknowledgement Number" issued by NSR system and Log-in password set-up by you. If ITPIN is generated the system will display the same, if not it will display the acknowledgement form.
If your ITPIN is not generated after 7 days of submission of finger-prints please write a mail to nsr@nsdl.co.in indicating your Acknowledgement Number and the POS location where finger-prints were submitted.
NSR Card
NSR will intimate you the ITPIN by an email which will be sent to the email id registered with NSR. This email will also include your NSR eCard, the NSR eCard can be downloaded from the link mentioned in the email. You can access your profile immediately upon receipt of ITPIN using the option "Access your Profile" option on NSR site. You will need to enter ITPIN issued by NSR system and your Login ID and Login Password set-up by you while registering your profile on NSR.
Access to your NSR profile details is based on ITPIN (issued by NSR), Log-in ID and Log-in Password / Transaction Password (as set-up by you during registration or changed subsequently). These are important information and should be kept safely and also handy. NSR provides following facilities to help you retrieve these details
Visit NSR Website https://nationalskillsregistry.com and click on the link for "Access your Profile" and select the option required as per details below
Forgot ITPIN
Click on Forgot ITPIN link and provide either of the following information to search your ITPIN
- Acknowledgement Number (Generated by NSR website on doing web-registration) or
- TIN (Number issued by Point of Service team after submission of finger-prints) or
- Combination of your Mother's maiden name and your date of birth as recorded on NSR
If the information entered matches with an active ITPIN, the system will show the ITPIN and the Name. Take note of the same.
Forgot Log-in ID
Click on Forgot Log-in ID link and provide your ITPIN and Date of Birth information and click on submit button. If the information entered matches with your profile, the system will send an email to your registered email ID informing the Log-in ID. You can access your registered email ID and find-out your Log-in ID for your use.
In case you are not sure about which email ID is registered in your NSR profile or you do not have access to such email ID (due to change in job etc.) you can request for sending a copy of Log-in ID information mail to any other email ID also. In this case, in addition to the above details you will need to provide Mother's maiden name also and details of the new email ID. The email will be sent to both your registered email ID and new email ID provided by you.
Forgot Log-in Password / Transaction Password
In NSR system clear text passwords are not stored and hence it is not possible to send you the password as recorded by you earlier, therefore the system facilitates you to set-up a new password for your use.
Click on Forgot Password link and provide your ITPIN and Log-in ID information and click on submit button. If this is correct, the system will display the next page which will offer you two methods for creating a new password for you:
Reset password based on answering the hint question : While registering your profile you had informed to the system about a common question that can be asked and to which you can answer such as your favorite player name etc. This question will be shown to you for answering. If your answer matches your previously recorded answer system will allow you to set-up a new password for your profile.
Reset password based on email ID validation : In case you are not able to answer the hint question also you can use this method. Using this method you can reset your log-in password or transaction password and also your preferred question/answer for resetting the passwords. You will need to enter your ITPIN and Log-in ID information and click on submit button. On the next screen you can select the password type (Log-in or Transaction) to be changed, enter a new password of your choice, select a new password hint question / answer and submit the same. The new password will be registered but will become active only after you complete the following process.
An email containing a number "Password Change Request" (PCR) will be sent to your email id registered with NSR. After receiving the PCR number, visit NSR site and submit your ITPIN, PCR number and new password in the module named "Reactivation of password" (available in forgot password link at hhttps://nationalskillsregistry.com/nasscom/pageflows/ itp/itpTransactions/ITPReactivation.jsp). On submitting these details your new password will become active and you can access your profile using the new password.
In case your NSR email ID has changed since the time you registered and is not accessible now, an additional facility of sending this mail to an alternate and currently used Email ID is provided. To avail the same select provide the alternate email ID as well. The email will be sent both on your registered as well as alternate email ID.
NSR provides you the facility to make the required changes in your profile with respect to Gender/Mother.s Maiden Name /Date of Birth. You have to fill up the Data Value Change form available in Knowledge Professionals-Useful download. Visit the POS office with duly filled-in form along with Identity proof and requisite fees.(Refer Knowledge Professionals- Fee Structure for details).
